loving my new 8820 and must be the best phone I've had with the email, GPS etc.

Anyway, I have set up the wifi for when at home and that works but my question is

if I leave my wifi permanently on on the phone when I get in range will it automatically switch to that method of downloading my emails to save my dataplan ?

Yes it will save your dataplan.
