Default Empower and the Verizon BB 8830

Please Login to Remove!

Hello:
Verizon BB 8830 OS Ver 4.2.2

I am a relatively new 8830 user and have recently installed and uninstalled BBSmart e-mail viewer due to the frequent appearance of an "uncaught exception ..." error message that resulted in a lock-up of the e-mail and message icons for a period of time. Removing the program has resolved the issue.

I am about to purchase Empower Pro and wonder if any of the more experienced 8800 series users have noted any problems similar to the one described above?

Additionally, the Empower website seems to imply that the software should be obtained "on air" but there is no mention of how said software is to be billed. Does it require the entry of one's credit card information over the wireless network or is there some other means of accomplishing the task.

Thank you in advance,
R

Default EmpowerPro and the 8830

Hello again:

Well, a more intensive web search revealed the answer to the purchase question but the issue relating to the "uncaught exception" remains to be addressed.

Thank you once again,
R

Ron, To answer both questions -
1. Purchase is through the "Buy Now" button on the website. Its possible that when you went to the site, there was no Buy Now button because the Pro wasn't launched then - we put up Buy Now just 1 day back. Yes, it takes you to your shopping cart where you can purchase as you normally do online.

2. While I personally am not on the Verizon network nor own a 8830, we had 4 beta testers on the 8830 and 1 on 8800 and no one reported any such "uncaught exception". I will also recommend you to take a Trial of EMV Pro and see for yourself.

Thanks,
Ani.

The uncaught exception is probably a security issue, probably not allowing smart view full access!

I have to tell you that ani and team are fantastic! Whenever I have had a question or issue I have received a response in less than 24 hours "I wish all BB Software developers were that considerate" Empower always seems to be a work in progress and functions fantastically on my VZW 8830. The only thing I would like to see is a option to turn off the "Sent By Empower Pro" Tag at the bottom of my emails. Perhaps there is a option for this that I have not discovered yet. I still love these guys though!

Default Empower

Hi:

Thank you all for your speedy and informative replies. I will indeed give Empower a try as I have already trashed the previously mentioned e-mail viewer.

Regards,
Ron

I agree that Empower Mail Viewer is a great product. To turn off the tag line, highlight a message, then Menu->Empower Options and on this screen Menu->Advanced Options and uncheck the Append Signature checkbox.

I just purchased Empower last night and will be installing it shortly, I also purchased BBSmart but the additional features that Empower offers like caching to the SD card was worth it.

Is that the new Pro release? I'm still on version 2.3.42.7. They must have changed the Empower Advanced Options menu. Unless someone else has the answer, you may have to email their tech support, as I didn't see anything in their online documentation on how to turn it off for Pro.

I was using BBsmart also and had a few of the exeption codes as well. Locked me right up.

I tried the empower and registered it within 10 minutes! It is that good!
Empower pro is awesome! I have the 3.0.62.7 version

I loaded the Empower Pro software approx. 2 weeks ago, and am delighted! No error messages, and very fast.
