Default 8800 will not receive text messages

Please Login to Remove!

My 8800 will not receive text messages. I can send but not receive. At first I thought it might be my IT department disable, but they say they haven't done that. Any ideas on how to get this going?

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Have you tried a battery pull?

Sounds like it may be something on the providers end

Do yo have an IT Policy on the device?
Go to Options > Security options > General Settings, scroll down and look for an entry that reads IT Policy Name:

If you have one, chances are your SMS messages are being blocked by an IT Policy security setting for Firewall.
Ask your IT Department if you have a policy such as:
IT Policy > Security Policy Group > Firewall Block Incoming Messages = SMS Messages

You can also check this yourself on your device.
Go to:
Options > Security Options > Firewall
and see if any of your messages are being blocked.
You may even be able to unblock them here if permitted by your IT Policy.

If you don't have an IT Policy blocking SMS, then it's possible they are blocked at the carrier level.

Default

The only IT policy listed is called default, so I take it that means there is no policy blocking the messages. Also checked the firewall and none of the options are listed as blocked. I guess I will call AT&T to see if they can help.

Thanks!

That's a bad assumption.
The Default IT Policy can definitely be set to block SMS messaging.
'Default' is just the name of the policy. Your IT Department can set the Default policy to make any number of restrictions and device controls.
