Default No calls with the 7230?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

First of all; Happy Xmas!!

Now that we've passed that one I was kinda hoping that someone here knows the solution to my problem here.

I'm having problems getting a 7230 BlackBerry to work correctly. At the moment it works just fine except I cannot make phonecalls with it (only textmessaging). When I press the 'phone button' absolutely nothing happends. I do not have an Enterprise activated as I just want to use the blackberry for textmessaging and making phonecalls on the SunCom network.

I installed the Desktop Manager (v4.2.2.14) on my laptop and after that downloaded the Handheld Software for the 7230. However, when I start the Application Loader Wizzard I get the following message:

The Blackberry desktop software does not have Blackberry Device software for the device you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or System administrator

I've tried manually importing the *.alx or *.ali files but I can't seem to find these files.

The blackberry itself has been used by a company in Holland (where I used to live) and there it worked without a problem, but now here in the US I cannot seem to get it to work. When I start it I do keep getting the logo from the Dutch Service Provider. Should I perhaps completely kill the BB's OS and then reinstall a clean one? (or is this even possible?)

If anyone would know how I can solve this problem and thus make phonecalls again you would greatly help me out!

Happy Holidays!!!

Your App Loader error here, easily fixed:
Application Loader Error - BlackBerryFAQ

Your calling issue... hmm, is it unlocked for you to use on SunComm?
How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ
How do I unlock my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ

You will ALWAYS get the Dutch carrier logo on startup. That cannot be changed, ever, even with a new OS loaded to the BB.

Good luck, and welcome to the BB Forums!

It sounds like the Phone application is not loaded on the BlackBerry. Also, there could be an IT Policy on it from the previous owner that is blocking phone calls.

Hello,

Thank you both for the very fast reply :D
I'm downloading the correct OS right now so that should solve my first problem.

However, I checked and the phone is unlocked.
The phone application can be loaded with the Application Loader Wizzard right? So that correct OS should solve all the problems right away then

My phone has v4.0.0.188, so downloading the 'BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.0.0.33 ' should be correct right?

That will correct the problem IF calls are permitted.
See what happens - make sure that there is a check mark next to the Phone application.

If the Phone application is loaded, and still doesn't work, you may have an IT Policy (which can be removed by following the steps outline in Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ )
