Default GPSed from SHAPE Services: more functionality for 8800 and 8820

Please Login to Remove!

One of the benefits of BlackBerry 8800 or 8820 is a built-in GPS module.
Would you like to know what GPS can really give you? Would you like to take full advantage of it?

Letís define what GPS is.
GPS (Global Positioning System) uses satellite technology to enable a terrestrial terminal to determine its position on the Earth in latitude and longitude. To put it in simpler words, it allows users with GPS receivers to determine precise coordinates for their location on the Earth's surface.

What advantage can you take of it?
You can:
* record tracks of your trips anywhere on the Earth from your BlackBerry. Your tracks will be traced on Google Maps and stored in an online archive or in your mobile
* show to your friends the instant position on a map when you are traveling
* map your digital photos precisely at a place they were taken.

How to?
Step 1. You need to download GPSed Blackberry application.
You can find OTA installation at: wap.gpsed.com
or download it to your PC at:
Download GPSed mobile application - Mobile GPS Tracking Service
and then install via BlackBerry Desktop Manager
GPSed BlackBerry application is in public beta now and is absolutely free.

Step 2. Sign up to GPSed online service at:
Register new account - Mobile GPS Tracking Service
Itís free and easy.

You can find more information about GPSed at:
About - Mobile GPS Tracking Service

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them in this thread.
The project is in beta stage, so we are extremely interested in users' feedback.

This does not work with the Verizon 8830 Correct? .. Your website shows full support for the 8830 Model.

gee I'd love to try it but your web site makes it impossible to find the app! And going to wap.gpsed.com brings up a German page with "under construction" on it in German.

what gives?

in the test of the message post says for OTA to go to wap.gpsed.com

The gpsed.com/mobile does go to a web page but no ota link for an app download.

confusing site actually.

Sorry for misinformation.
Unfortunately, we cannot help this problem. The reason is that Verizon has blocked GPS on their BlackBerry devices
Only Verizon could help this.

GPSed is compatible with all 4.2 OS BlackBerry devices with internal and external GPS receivers.
