Default Turn on speaker phone with 1 hand

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BB 8800. Is there a way to turn on the speakerphone with 1 hand, rather than having to hold the alt and s key?

Thank you
Rob G.

On new BBs that I've used, the $ key, to the left of the return key, will turn on the speakerphone. It does that on the 8320.

Do we really want to know what you're doing with your OTHER hand?

Look at the $ key (bottom right next to the enter key). On my AT&T 8310 it is a split key. In other words, the bottom half is black and has the $ symbol, while the top half is silver and has the speaker icon. A tap of that key turns on or off the speakerphone.

What would be better, for me, is a quick key to turn on or off the bluetooth headset. I sometimes forget that the headset is on and registered, and when I answer the phone, it defaults to the headset. I stand there for a minute yelling into the phone before I realize that the headset has picked up the call. Dang...

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, the headset I use has incredible range and I can be several rooms away yelling into the phone before I realize the headset has the call. Then I have to search for the headset before the caller gets frustrated and hangs up... blah!

user modified function key? The 8830 has them on the left side and you can set them up for almost anything. Mine came std set up to turn on voice assist for making a call.

Cool! I never noticed that. I was hitting the Menu key and selecting "Speakerphone" from the drop down list. Man, you hang around these forums and you're bound to learn something new. What's that about old dogs and new tricks?

Unfortunately all I see in the list, aside from a few functions (Bluetooth setup, etc), are the applications installed on my device. Maybe if there was an application to switch between handset and headset? Hm... off to Google I go.
