Default Problems with JiveTalk!

Please Login to Remove!

I am having problems setting up JiveTalk on my BlackBerry 8700. I got it on my phone, but when I go to "Auto Config Network" I am getting this:

Unable to find working connection, please check the installation FAQs or contact BeeJive technical support

BIS - HTTP: N/A
BIS - Socket: N/A
BES - HTTP: N/A
BES - Socket: N/A
TCP - HTTP: Failed (Open tunnel - max timeout)
TCP - Socket: Failed (Open Tunnel - max timeout)

I followed the troubleshooting tips that BeeJive provides but they didn't work. Help would be awesome!

Do you have a BB Date Plan, and have you allowed the connection in the security settings

Is your wireless radio on with an EDGE connection?

In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, do you see anything that says GSM, or edge, or EDGE?

OK. That is the problem. JiveTalk, I believe, requires an EDGE connection (or at least GPRS) in order to work. Do you know if you have the BlackBerry data plan enabled on your account? Right now, with GSM, all you have the ability to do is make phone calls and send text messages. Data applications, however, won't work.

If you do have the BlackBerry data plan on your account, try pulling the battery out of the device while it is still powered on. Wait for 10 seconds, then reinsert.

GPRS sounds very familiar. I think I saw that somewhere. How do I get to the list of connections to use?

Plain data plan I'm pretty sure... but I do remember going to a list that had GSM on it but I had a choice to use GPRS. Anyone know where this list is?

that particular setting on the blackberry will not help you in this case. check with AT&T to make sure you have a blackberry data plan on your account. You can use mobile internet plans to do the same thing, but it won't work as well as a true blackberry data plan.
