My dad's 7130e recently died on him and since it was past its warranty his company replaced it with an 8830. The 7130e's usb port broke free and his wheel buttom stopped working. Also since he couldn't charge the battery it is now completly dead. Well since I wanted to get a blackberry for awhile now but can't afford to pay for a new one, I thought I'd take a crack at fixing this one. I removed a lot of lint from the wheel and sodered the usb port back on, but I am still having some problems. At first when I plugged it in to charge I got a white screen with a empty battery and a lightning bolt in the top right corner. After a few minutes the software came up and i was able to test the wheel, which works now. The charged died however and the unit turned off. Since then I now only get the white screen with the lightning bolt and battery, then a completely white screen with a brighter backlight as well as a lit keypad. It just rotates between these two screens and doesn't seem to charge. Could this just be a bad battery or did I mess something else up while I was trying to fix it? Any ideas on what I can do? I don't know if you damaged anything else or not, hard to say from here. First, I would let it charge several hours, 4-5. If it won't turn on, pull the battery and replace.
If you continue to get the white screen on boot up, you may need to reload the OS, using JL_cmder if needed, to recognize or see the BlackBerry.
