Default Does the 8820 have a voice recorder function?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello -

I'm a BB newbie, and have read/searched the owners manual and run the 101 tutorial...I see no mention of a voice recorder function.

Does this unit have this capability?

...or, is there software to download to enable this functionality?

I like the idea of making quick reminders to myself and retrieving them later.

This is a great forum, and I look forward to learning lots more.

The 8820 has a "feature" called "Send Voice Note." This alows you to send a short (<60sec I believe) voice note via MMS. As far as I'm concerned it is virtually useless because it 1) limits you to sending it via MMS thus incuring charges, 2) limits you to 1min notes when you could easily use it for recording meetings with a larger memory card for capacity, and 3) does not allow you to save the notes locally on your phone.

There are probably some other features that would be nice to have with voice notes but you would need to purchase an aftermarket software package to get them on the BB8820.

Hope that crushed your holiday spirit! ;) jk

**If you can't see the icon for it, hit the 'Menu' key from your home screen (twice depending on your theme) and Select "Show All" You will then see any icons that have been hidden. You can then highlight them and unhide them via the menu key.**

The new 4.3 OS will include this feature but I am not sure if death from old age might get here first!
