Hello all, new to the forums. My brother in law had a 7250 he bought new and used it just a few times. He gave it to me and couldnt remember his password, so after entering it incorrectly 10 times, it deleted everything. I have looked on the blackberry website, and the error message (507) I am gettin on my phone, is consistent with the reason they are telling me it happened. I need to know how to reset it, or where to get the operating system, and what ever else I need to do? Thanks for any help you may have, I really appreciate it!

You need two pieces of software - Desktop Manager, which is available from the RIM BlackBerry Web site, and the actual Handheld Operating System for the 7250. A good place to start looking is here - BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ


You can go directly to the Verizon download website at BlackBerry® Software Updates

Let's assume you have Desktop Manager installed.

Download the 7250 handheld OS from the Verizon web site
Install it onto your PC
Restart Desktop Manager - if Application Loader does not automatically kick in, click on it

The OS should now be loaded to the 7250.

I gave you the download for Verizon and then noticed you were on Alltel. All of the code will work. Take whichever one you want (Alltel has their own download site).

You'll want OS 4.1 at least and after loading you might want to call Alltel and ask them to update your PRL (They'll know what it means)

That is required for most carriers when you upgrade to an OS that gives EVDO support when the prior OS didn't. (Such as going from 4.0 to 4.02 or higher)

On Verizon, you can update your PRL any time you want by dialing *22899. I know for Sprint, you have to call them for the update. I'm not sure about Alltel.
