Good device, no media capabilities and discontinued. I've got a box of about 8 of them.

The 7100t is a TMobile branded device. Your profile says Cingular so lets hope the 7100t is unlocked. Otherwise it won't work with Cingular/ATT.

CON: The screen.

The screen on the 7100 is not as good as the 7105 or 7130 series and newer.

In direct sunlight it can be challenging to read.

Highest OS: 4.1.x

Before even doing anything with it, I'd highly recommend upgrading the OS.
Some original 7100's had OS 3.8. DITCH IT!

It is somewhat outdated. They are discontinued, as mentioned above, if you want to take it to mean outdated.

The 7100t was my first BB... I still have it as a backup. It took abuse and more, including a toilet and still works fine.

As mentioned, the screen is more than challenging in sunlight. That in itself was the reason I upgraded to the 8700. My wife continued to use the 7100 as her first BB for a year +.

You will like it. In six months you will be ready to upgrade.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100 Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Pros: built like a tank. Good for basic BB use I.e. email, Cheap.

Cons: not much memory, slow processor, GPRS data, screen unreadable in daylight. End of life.
