When is 4.3 due to be available for the 88xx series? I am a new user and have a 8820 and whilst it is a terrific device, not being able to save attachments to the data card is a real drag.

I can't open password-protected files on the Blackberry, nor can I open Works files and other unsupported file types. So being able to transfer them to my laptop would be ideal.

Thanks

OS 4.3 for the current BB device series should be available February/March 2008.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8820/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Is there a changelog somewhere that shows what RIM will be doing differntly/adding in the upcoming release?

Default Mac install of 4.3

I just finished chatting with att. I had hoped that when 4.3 came out, I'd at least be able to install it by bringing the phone into the att store. I'm on a Mac, and apparently PocketMac will not install device updates. I was advised to call Blackberry regarding this. I don't know how they'll be able to help, if they're desktop software is the only install solution they have available. As an alternative, I'd hoped I could switch to wifi, and download 4.3 to my Blackberry device and have it install as it does an application.

Short of buying a copy of windows to run in BootCamp, are there any suggestions? My close contacts have all switched to Macs.

As for moving documents back and forth, I suppose having the device in drive mode is one way. I have to admit, my Palm tx can transfer via bluetooth, open password protected files, save to SD card, and synch via bluetooth. I found that it was nice having comparable desktop features, but in the end I didn't use many of them.

You got to have a friend who has a PC. I have helped out my Mac friends when they were in need. Just explain to your friend that it will only take about an hour.

You would never be able to do this OTA. If you got a friend at the ATT store he/she might help but it takes a while for this update to complete. A willing PC friend is you best bet!

Things like updates and releases of new hardware are guarded and known by very few till it happens!

--- I'm a store manager for a wireless carrier. I have updated a few of my customers' Blackberry devices for them in the past. Your carrier should value you as a customer and do the same for you---

After 11 years, my carrier never cared for me until I took the biz from their hands.

The people you meet at your local company carrier store could care less unless you want to open a new account or line.
