Default Browser icons don't do anything?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I'm troubleshooting an 8703e for a friend, v4.1.0.352. She has 2 icons, one for the Blackberry browser, one for the Internet browser. Neither does anything when clicked. I've restarted as a side effect of uninstalling the Opera browser, which also stopped working - but at least it opened the program. Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Also, things like Google Maps still work just fine, if that helps.

Have you tried to resend the service books? If not try that and attempt to access the browsers again.

You say the BlackBerry browser is there, implying it is on a BES. Is there a restriction from her company?

Someone had mentioned that here as well, so we checked, and there's no restrictions. Problem is the icons do nothing, not even an error, but they're still there. Might be a misconfiguration that the BES server dumped to us, but as far as they tell us, there are none.

Service books were another good suggestion, but I think it's just messed up. There's a newer OS version, so I think I'll just wipe and reinstall, to see if things come back to normal.

Forgive me if this has already been asked, Are you sure that your blackberry is set up with a Data Plan?

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Sounds like apps have been deleted but a module is still there, and hence the icon. If resending service books doesn't work, then maybe wipe and resinstall of OS may be easiest cleanest solution to fix both known and as yet undiscovered problems. You might look for modules and delete, then try resending service books before doing the wipe, maybe.

Nope, that's totally relevant information, no trouble; I should have mentioned that they did work initially, and the data plan and browser allowance has been confirmed by both the carrier and our BES server admins.

I'll be wiping today - I can't imagine it not working after that, but stranger things...

Long shot that you have probably tried....in addition to service books have you Update the Host Routing Tables?
