When I try to dial a phone number on my Blackberry it allows the first number to work fine. Then when I hit the second number it repeats the first number I had hit and then the second shows up. This happens every other number I hit and it always repeats the one in front of it. I also notice that when I hit the first number it shows up in a yellow box at first. I have another Blackberry identical to this one and it doesn't do that. Is there a setting that could have been changed that I can't find?

sounds like you have a keyboard issue. If it's new and from a Carrier ,return it for a replacement

Would there be a setting that would cause that? The yellow box when I hit a number that comes up with the number in it is what is throwing me off. I don't know how a bad keyboard could cause that to happen.

If there is an option to explain it, I can't find it. Have no ideas about the box. But I agree with tsac. Or maybe moisture?

I was hoping that wasn't the case. It doesn't matter what key I hit the first one always works and then the second key I hit it always duplicates the first one and then gives me the 2nd one. I couldn't find a setting anywhere either but was hoping.

what color is the theme? are the selection boxes and the cursor yellow?

You did try pulling the battery, right?

also, in the top right corner of the screen, is anything showing like an Arrow pointing up or ABC when you type

Yes I have tried pulling the battery. As for the theme color it is just basic. I don't remember every changing it from the default actually.

We'll see if the others agree. If it were me and I could do a warranty replacement, I do that. Otherwise I think I would try a wipe and reinstall OS. . . Assuming there is no physical damage (drop or liquid) that could have caused this.

try a backup of your data and wipe the device/reload the OS. See if this helps.



actually before you do that go to options > screen keyboard. What is the rate for the key press? A shot in the dark here but try turning that down.

There isn't any physical damage or any liquid problems. I've had plenty of those issues in the past but that is what made me wonder about this one it doesn't seem to be user error.

Would doing a hard reset accomplish the same thing as wiping the device and then reloading the OS?

no, hard reset just resets the device. wiping the device removes everything

On the screen/keyboard option on rate of key press it is exactly the same as my other identical Blackberry and I'm not having this problem with it.

Ok so how would I go about wiping it clean and then reloading the OS?
