Default Adding custom message searches

Please Login to Remove!

I've been setting up custom message searches on my 8800, saving them with a shortcut key (for example ALT + n brings up all unread emails) - the searches work great, but they don't stick. Anything from 12-24 hours later, they all vanish and leave me with just the standard voicemail search. Any thoughts? I am on a BES - could this be overwriting things?

Welcome to the forums!

I've never run across any IT Policy that limits a users ability to create/save searches in the Messages application.

Do the default searches work for you - like ALT-o for all outgoing items?

Thanks! These have been a lot of help already, but I can't find this one...

I don't seem to have any "standard" searches apart from the ALT+v voicemail search. When setting up a new search, if I go to "recall" that is the only search that shows up initially and none of the standard ALT+ key presses do anything. I can create a new search, assign a key and save it successfully and everything works great. But the next day, the searches are all gone....

That sounds very odd.... Have you tried rebooting your device (remove/insert battery while the device is on) to see if that fixes the disappearing searches?

I've rebooted a few times recently, but what the heck...

I saved a new search first, rebooted as you suggest - now I have my new search (ALT+n) and the ALT+v search for voicemails only. Not sure what to conclude from that?

What is the size of the free space on your device? Options -> Status.

Are you emails, texts, and/or call logs getting deleted when you're having these issues?

Free space right now is 18943796 bytes

I have not noticed anything being deleted - but there might be a clue here. Every day between 10pm and midnight, I get 15-20 emails, each around 1MB, delivered to my Exchange mailbox.

Just checked my call log - it only goes back 2 weeks (7 calls) - I'm not sure how far back it should go though.

UPDATE: I've setup filters on my exchange server to move any emails with attachments to a separate (not-reconciled) folder - that should limit what's sent to the blackberry. Then I've created a batch of personal searches. We'll see what happens tonight...
