I'm just waiting patiently for the 4.3 OS upgrade in the hopes that it will solve all the little irritating bugs that my current OS has. If I can get another 6 months to a year out of my 8700 before I upgrade then it will money well saved since I want either a curve 8320 or the mythical full screen blackberry (if it ever appears).

What kind of bugs are you having? A newer release than what you currently have might help.

Ya, I just updated my 8700r last week and don't have any issues. I'm actually using Desktop 4.2 still. I thought I read many were having issues with the new 4.3 Desktop software.

Hey onelove5683, I was using the original OS that came with the 8700r. Just updated to the recent one that was in a sticky here in the forums. I was so new to the BB world that I just wanted things to just work and give me time to be familiar with it all. I just wasn't sure about updating to Desktop 4.3 just yet. But missing Roxio Media Manager that I need to get the extra features since I only had the Desktop SP2 version running without the Roxio software. It didn't work with the old OS, so didn't bother installing Roxio. But now that I'm updated to most recent OS, now I need it.

Back to topic, any news on the new update coming to the 8700?

I saw a screenshot of 4.3 on the 8700 over at Howard Forums. Here's a link to the thread: HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - NEWS: Blackberry Software 4.3 Soon To Be Released (Including Screenshots & More)

The 8700 screenshot is on page 3.

Although it most definitely exists, you probably won't ever see 4.3 released for the 8700. You'll probably see 4.5 for the 8700.

I doubt it's a photoshopped. The same person who posted the 8700 screenshot also posted screenshots of 4.3 for the 8320 and those look extremely real. I think it's safe to assume that the screenshots of the beta 4.3 OS loaded on the 8320 and 8700 and legit.

After reading about the rebranding and addition of features to the forthcoming 4.3 OS on a couple blogs and forums you're probably right about seeing a 4.5 OS for the 8700.

Wasn't 4.3 renamed to 4.5? I read this in another thread.

Wirelessly posted (Thumpers 8700c: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8703e/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I installed 4.2 on my 8703e and noticed OS slow downs. I would be afraid of 4.3 being even worse. It seems like the OS is too beefy for the processor, if that makes sense. I think it's best to leave the device with the OS designed for it.

I am intrigued, however, with the IT policy comment. Is that true? If so, it may be worth upgrading to the Pearl.

When I first loaded 4.2.1 on my 8703e I too noticed somewhat slow operation. After a week it became better, or at least it seemed to. Now I don't even notice it.... works well.
