BBWeather Help PLEASE!!! I normally don’t need to post new threads because I’m usually pretty good about finding what I need using search. However, this is not one of those times. I have a BlackBerry 8800, which I absolutely love. I have installed BBWeather v.74 on my phone. I can’t get it to work for the life of me. I get one of 2 error messages: “Invalid URL parameter” or “open tunnel-failure” depending on whether or not the Disable MDS Proxy button is checked or not. I tried setting up my profile using a zip code for the location id, as well as the location id from WeatherChannel.com and weather.com – still nothing. I tried changing my TCP settings to sp.cingular, username and password blank, and still nothing. I am on the Cingular network (now AT&T) and my phone is unlocked. What steps should I try next? Also, is there perhaps another FREE weather application out there that's better? Thank you so much for all your help guys! |
TCP settings for AT&T: APN: wap.cingular Username: Password: CINGULAR1 If you are on a BES then leave the "disable MDS proxy" box unchecked. If you are not on a BES then check the box. |
It's working now!! Woo Hoo! Thank you very much! One last thing- does it matter if "CINGULAR1" is all capitalized or not? |
I think so....change it and try. Though, if it's working why bother? |
Yeah, true.... just curious. Seriously, thank you though! |
How do you copy the code to the BlackberryWeather software so I can make it work? PLEASE HELP! |
Copy what code to where? |
I have the AT&T 8800 and downloaded the BBweather and I cant get it to work. when I click on the icon it tells me there is no profile yet? please help.. |
Follow these steps EXACTLY and your device shouldn't lock up: 1 - Click on the new BBWeather icon. 2 - Since no locations are set up yet, you'll receive an error that there are no profiles set up, just click OK with the trackball. 3 - Press the trackball (NOT the Menu button) and click Options. 4 - Press the Menu key and click Add. 5 - For all US locations, use the zip code for the Location. Use this for zip codes you don't know, or for non-US zip codes: ASP.NET Resources - Determine location ID for the weather server control 6 - Enter a description name (i.e., LA, Orlando, New York). 7 - You can keep the Forecast Days at 5, or increase it up to 10 days. 8 - If you would like the temp displayed in Fahrenheit, leave the Units as 'Standard'. For Celsius, change it to 'Metric'. 9 - Click OK to save. Press the Menu button and Close/Save to back out. |
That worked! How many locations may I add to this? |
I've had up to 10 on mine..... don't know if there is a limit, though. |

Hahaha, Thnx much Sis. Your a Smart 1! ;-) |
I installed BB Weather on my VZW 8830 last night and it froze my device. I had to do a hard reset, then remove the app to unfreeze again...a total pain in the @$$! |
Yeah you really do have to follow blackberryfaq.com method of making BBWeather work. It crashes HARD if you doesn't do it. |
Yes, the method of getting BBWeather to work on devices with trackballs has only been documented several hundred times. Even an FAQ. |

Gee, sorry I offended you. I'm not allowed to post my opinion? People ask the same questions over and over. |
