Default Help with update

Please Login to Remove!

I'm generally not so easily confused, but I went to Verizon's Web site to update my BB 8830WE and I can't figure out what to do first and what to choose.

Currently, I have version 4.2.2.148 (platform 3.0.0.67) on my BB and the Desktop Manager is version 4.2.2.12 (March 19, 2007).

When I go to the BlackBerry Software Updates (http://www.vzam.net/blackberry/default.aspx), I first click "Personal Email." That takes me to a page where I choose my model (8830). I then get a list of options and that's where I get lost, I'm not sure if that's a list of options I supposedly already have or if it's a list of options I can choose to have. I can click on BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.2 (updated 5-31-2007), BlackBerry Device Software v4.2 (updated 11/19/2007, Patch Release 2), or VZAccess Manager, which I'm pretty sure I don't want or need. I see no option to upgrade the BlackBerry Desktop Software to v4.3 (although I've heard that's buggy and most suggest staying with 4.2, but isn't that what I already have (see second paragraph)?

So, can someone tell me what I have to do---and be kind. My BB is currently working fine and as of now I don't intend to use VZNavigation, but I never say never. Like most, I'm not thrilled with the browser and if any of these updates helps with the browser, I'd be happy. And obviously the low ringer problem, which it claims it fixes, but from what I've read here, it doesn't fix it.

So, based on what I already have, which options do I choose, from the Verizon BlackBerry Software Update site, if any. I'm not big on getting updated versions and patches just to have them if I really don't need them, but at the same time I want to keep my BB 8830WE up to date for future updates and patches that I might find useful. If I do update both the Desktop Software and the Device Software, does it matter which gets updated first?

Will I be losing the Media Manager in the new Desktop Software? I do use that and don't want to lose it; I think it's a Roxio title.

I apologize for the long post, but I'm just plain confused and I don't want to brick my shiny BB. Any and all help would be very much appreciated.

Do this, easy step by step instructions...
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-mobility.html

It is an OS from another carrier, the latest verion, and it IS fine to load to your BB as long as your follow the exact instructions.

Just download and install the device software. It'll work with the Desktop Manager you have. Not all carrier's offer the 4.3 desktop manager for download. You don't need it anyway.
