Sprint 7250 BlackBerryOS 4.0.0.329 Install Problems

All--

I just received my new Sprint 7250 on Friday and tried to install the latest OS update (BlackBerryOS 4.0.0.329) this morning. After completing the installation, the installer had me reboot my PC. When I went back into Windows, I didnít notice any new icons and after synching up my BB, there was no installation. I checked the BB OS version and noticed that it was still v4.0.259.

I looked under Add/Remove programs and saw that I had three different BB upgrades listed there: an old 2.6 install for my 957, a 4.0 upgrade for my 7750, and now the 7250 upgrade. I tried removing all of these, since I no longer needed them and lastly tried to reinstall the 7250 upgrade. This time I didnít have to reboot, but again, after re-synching, my BB was not upgraded. What am I doing wrong? How can I upgrade my new 7250 to the latest firmware (OS)?

Thanks, as always!

Bill

Have you deleted the VENDOR.XML file?

You need to do this in order to install Verizon firmware on Sprint BlackBerries.

Mark--

I have a Sprint 7250, and I am using the Sprint 7250 firmware update. My old device was a Verizon 7750, sorry for the confusion.

Now I'm really at a loss. Completely uninstalled every RIM program, rebooted, then reinsatlled the desktop manager and the 7250 patch. It never installed the new 7250 patch/update. For those of you that downloaded and installed the Sprint 7250 update on a Sprint 7250, can you please tell me how the install works? I run the Windows installer without any problems, then sync my BB but it never indicates that it has an update to install.

Thanks,

Bill

Where did you get the patch from, the Bb site? I have the SPCS 7250 but my profile still shows it as an unknown phone on-line. That happed with my T650 for a few weeks but it showed up eventually.

Hmm, I just called Sprint and I think I found out where I'm going wrong. I believe that I do have the latest firmware, as 4.0.0.259 shipped on my Blackberry. I was looking under options->about and thought that it would say 4.0.0.329 after the update instead of 4.0.0.259. Sorry for the mis-communication.

Yes, after visiting the blackberry software update site for Sprint: https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareD...dexProcess.jsp

It appears the "Update Package" is called 4.0.0.329, which "consists of" Applications version 4.0.0.259. Kind of confusing, yes. :? Here is the description directly from the site...

Software For BlackBerry 7250 Wireless Handheld(TM)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.0.0.329

Package Version: 4.0.0.329
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.0.0.259
  • Software Platform: 2.0.0.40
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
