Default My Phone is Possessed

Please Login to Remove!

OK, this one is odd...I had my phone in my front pocket for a few hours today, didnt bang it or anything like that. Took it out when I hoped back in my car to watch the phone start to access programs by itself without any interaction from me. I pulled the battery and put it back in and changed the Theme (dont ask me why) and it continued to do it. I watched it access telenav and acknowledge the go right into the program. Then a call came in and I answered it and it kept go into mute unmute...

anyone see anything like this

little help would be great.

its an 8800

Did it get wet? If not try a battery pull while the device is on and it will most likely be exorcised!

E-

EDIT - If that doesn't work you may want to try taking the trackball out and cleaning it. Otherwise, if it doesn't and you can return it..then back it up using DM and return the device!

Shouldn't carry a trackball BB in your pocket. It picks up lint and dirt that can cause it to do strange things. Sounds like that is what has happened to you. Maybe used some compressed/canned air to blow around the keypad and trackball and the buttons and see if that helps.

its possible it is the trackball or a stuck key, but it seems more likely there is a problem with liquid damage. try the canned air and see if it helps

i have the same issue as well, i had it on my first 8100 , ATT didnt know what it was so they sent me a new one, but now its happening to this one to..... its almos as if the enter button is randomly being pressed, not sensative ( if anything the pressing option is almost worthless on the trackball.) the 6 month warranty is over so thats no longer an option... ive tried the compressed air option and pulling the batter but to avail...

please tell me you guys can help cuz its so frustrating when i try to text and send people 20 text messages only three letters long.

btw my phone is dry the wet mark is white yet the battery has 3xs on it ! is that water damage ?

Same problem here, this is my fourth phone from vzw. This new one actually just started doing the muting on and off, on and off over and over and over. It actually hung up, than called the number back.

My brother said to me today "what happens when you call customer service and you say your phone is possesed?" haha

I'm trying to get an arangment with a pearl even though I got them to send me out a brand new 8830 not a referb.

I've experienced the same exact issues, and had the phone replaced by Sprint (brand new phone), and the same problems persisted. It hasn't been possessed since, but now my notifications don't work. The phone won't play the ring/melody assigned to text/'e-mail/alarm. It'll just vibrate. I have checked and rechecked all my settings, I've taken the battery out, and the phone's never been dropped or been wet.

People will be quick to place blame on user error, but that's simply not the case. How can a brand new phone start accessing programs and such, all by itself, 3 days after it's been replaced?!?!

I dont think they should be in a pocket without a case or cover of some kind. I wear mine in a rubberised hard plastic case on my belt. Have you looked in your pocket? yech! dirty in there!
