Is it possible to "unsave" a saved message without deleting the actual message?

I like the idea of being able to flag certain e-mails for quick reference later, but after some time the saved messages folder begins to get rather large. This defeats the purpose of being able to quickly reference the message without having to type in some search terms.

Or, is there some other alternative people use?

In my experience, deleting a message from the "Saved" folder will not delete it from the actual message list.

You are 100% correct. So it actually makes a copy of the original message, and stores it in a separate folder. Should have tried this to begin with!
