I am running a BES 4.0 server along with 14 7290 handhelds. As you may already know that in order to take full advantage of the BES 4.0 the handhelds should have the 4.0 os. All 14 of our 7290s are running os 3.6, is it possible to upgrade these to 4.0?

Are you certain their 7290's not 7280's? Even from the get go I think the 7290's shipped with OS 3.8... In either case both the 7280/90's can be updated to OS 4.0

I am pretty certain that they are 7290s from Cingular. But you're right on the current os. I just checked mine and it has 3.8.0.139. So, this means I can upgrade to 4.0? If so, how? Thanks!
