That's odd...I suggest a battery pull and/or an uninstall and reinstall of BB messenger.

Same thing always happened to me on my 7100. For a workaround, Get your buddies PIN and invite him by PIN, not email.. Most autotext will turn the text "mypin" into the device PIN.

I've noticed that if I already have a contact in my BB with a phone number & an e-mail address, the BBM invite seems to go to this contacts e-mail NOT their PIN. Older versions of the OS gave you the option to send to either the e-mail or pin. My 4.2.2 does not offer that option that I can find. I can send direct pin messages, it's just the BBM that is choosing to send the request to the e-mail addy. Looks like a bug to me.

What about trying the [Use Once] option at the top of the contacts list? Maybe that'll let you enter a PIN.

The few people I know who I had this happen with their phones were not setup right or something. Once the carrier resent their books all was fine

Instead of clicking the ball on the contact to add, hit the menu key and then you can request using pin. You'll need to have the pin stored in your address book. It will work like this on the [use once] feature, too.

Does she have a BB Data Plan? If she doesn't you will not be able to BB Messenger her.
