Ford Sync system Error message
 

I get an error tat reads: uncaughtexception:Java.lang.ClassCastException on my Ford/MS SYNC system. It must be in my phone because a co-workers phone (Same model) works when he transfers his phonebook. When I try it, I get the error message and am unable to use ANY Bluetooth device on my phone. In order to clear the system, I have to remove battery, reboot, and then delete the SYNC device from my BB. This tells me it must be a software issue/bug in my 8800...anyone have any ideas? Also, I CAN use the sync system without downloading the phonebook! It just appears to be an issue with the phonebook syncronizatiion.

i have a similar problem, but i have a 2007 Ford F-150 with a pioneer AVIC N3 unit, my phone pairs with the bluetooth adapter that I bought with the Pioneer unit, and it makes calls, but the bluetooth audio doesn't work for some reason, it worked with my last 8800, but not this one

Are you on bes or bis. I remember reading about bb's and ford's sync ill try to look for it

LOL...that's funny, and I would normally have agreed with you. BUT, I've got a 2008 Fusion with Sync and a VZW BB8830. All I can say is that it works flawlessly...no issues whatsoever. I've had the phone since last June and the car since 12/31/07. Oh, and my phone is on BES. It's easy to make fun of Microsoft and/or Ford products...but I suggest you actually try USING the Sync system before slamming it. It works very well.

To the OP - have you gone to Bluetooth Options and set Address Book Transfer to All Entries? I would also try deleting the Sync device on your BB and then deleting all devices on your car's Sync system and pairing them from scratch again.

Ok, but when you have to roll down your windows, open the passenger door, and restart your car to get your phone to work, we'll see who has the last laugh! ;)

The SYNC system is pretty nice and even prompts can be removed to speed it up once user setup. Also its user upgradable. Overall for hands free I haven't seen better. One button and till you are done you don't have to repress it. Put mp3 on a usb stick plug the stick to the car and it will play them.
