If you have OS 4.2 on your 8700 then you can use Roxio Media Manager that installs with Desktop Manager.

If you have OS 4.1 or earlier then you need to email the photo to yourself.

Also, with 4.2 on an 8700g the DMs own Media Manager can do the same. On 4.1, you can use Ascendo Photos to download and view pictures on your device, but they won't be available for you to use as a desktop or anything like that, they are hidden away in RMS

so how do you know which OS you have, MY 8703 crashed the other day for the first time and just by searching this site i was able to wipe it and reload it using links and stuff i found here now it seems to be in its original verizon format or whatever( which by the way will not load my phonebook back into the phone) but i do want to put a couple of pics into the phone

and to add to my hijack, my phonebook loaded into this blackberry when i got it easy as pie but now the verizon store says the pda will not laod the phonebook in.... like 400 contacts.... my thumbs are tired just thinking about it. any recommendations, i did search it here but wasnt coming up with the right stuff

Look in Options >About. That will tell you the OS version.

Did you make a backup of your data? If so, restore your backup. If not, you're out of luck unless you sync with Outlook.

when i say my phonebook loaded in beforee i mean that i went to the verizon store and they used the cellbrite machine to move the contact from my crappy old phone to this PDA now they say that it cant be done, but they did it once, which makes me a little confused

EDIT:before the recent OS crash i had never even put the desktop manager onto the laptop, i only had it a couple weeks and use it mostly for the calendar, and send/receive emails. am still learning what its capable of

I don't know anything about Cellbrite. I've seen it on BB devices, but never used it.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Even with having 4.2 on my 8700, I will still just email myself a picture instead of using the DM to transfer. If I create 20+ backgrounds or something I'll use the DM, but I feel it quicker to email if there's only one or two pics.
