Default Tried to Wipe my 8700g, Won't boot up now...

Please Login to Remove!

I recently purchased a used BB 8700g off of ebay and tried to wipe the device since there was some of the previous owners info still in the phone. After about 20mins of waiting the battery died and now it will not boot up. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in Advance...

Wirelessly posted (7100t: BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Wiping means you deleted everything including the operating system. You'll need to download an OS update from your carrier and use DM's application loader to reload the OS.

There may be a sticky thread at the top of the 8700 forum for latest OS.

Wait a sec.... how were you doing the wipe? If you did a 'security wipe' then that only deletes data, not the operating system.

However, if the battery dies or is removed....then you will most likely have to reinstall the OS. You can follow these steps:

How do I "wipe" my 8700 device using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ.com

Sorry guys, I just saw that yall replied. When i got the phone it did not come with the OS or any CD's. The only thing sent to me was a charger and usb cable. How do i go about getting the stuff to re-install the OS.

Also the phone was unlocked when i got it, will re-installing it make me have to unlock the phone again?

You will find links to download the necessary software in the article I posted for you.

No, you will not have to unlock the phone again - once it's unlocked it's unlocked for good.

If i did not get the CD for the phone with all of the stuff i need then what can i do? Im new to this phone and don't want to eat my losses by buying this thing off of ebay. I downloaded the USB drivers and the latest update from the sticky. What else do i need to do in order to get this thing working again?

If you click on the link I posted above, step 3 has a link where you can download the necessary Desktop Manager software and the OS for your device.

Thanks for the help! I have made some good progress so far, I downloaded the Desktop Manager but I do no know where to go from here. The manger keeps saying disabled and if I try and open the Application Loader it will not connect with my phone. It just says "connecting to the device (JVM)..." The connection i selected is USB-PIN: 23DD1DB0

Could you help me navigate from here? I have also downloaded the the Latest OS from the sticky like mentioned.

Thanks in advance!

In Desktop Manager, click on Options -> Connection Settings and in the drop down select your USB-PIN. Make sure it shows 'connected' at the bottom of the window, then try the Application Loader.

Well i got the phone connected to the computer but there I can't select the first two options which are BB 4.2 system software and BB 4.2 core applications. I'm assuming that is what I need in order to get this phone working again.

I also noticed that it still says disconnected but I have the application loader wizard up so i guess that does not matter.

Where should i go from here?
