I'm an owner of the 7100t, and if I had to do it all over again, I would have probably returned my phone in the 14 day window had I know I was going to have so many issues with it. Now, don't get me wrong, I do love the whole BB thing, but I've had to deal with: the reboot problem (fixed by the new firmware), not being able to find a network when in area of 850 signal (fixed by the new firmware), volume that's unacceptable while driving, background noise that's unacceptable for business calls while driving (don't even think of having a window open or the radio on in the background...the other person won't be able to hear you), a thumbwheel that sticks every now and then, and now my t-mobile short-cut key popping out.
Ok, now that I'm done sharing my problems, I will say this....it's also been one of the most convenient and best laid out devices. Personally, if they would come out with a fix for the volume (besides downgrading to 3.8 ) I would be telling you to most definitely keep the device.
As far as the audio in 3.8, my experience was that the volume became much louder on the headset and bluetooth, which made me be able to hear someone while driving...but I still received complaints about excessive background noise. Others have had it solve both problems - I was not one of them i guess :-\
