I just recovered my berry from a cab company (oops I left it in a cab) and the battery was virtually dead, I have it plugged in and it has been for a half hour or so.... anyway, the screen is quite dark - it looks like its working but its soo soo dark (barely see it).

Has it had water or moisture damage? Look at the small white square label inside the battery compartment.

Otherwise, I don't know why it would have dark screen unless someone set the screen at a low percentage brightness. Options > Screen/Keyboard.

as for water damage, there are two indicators. the one on the battery and the one under the battery on the device. they should look just like stickers

ok I get that and i can see the stickers but how do i know if there are damages? do the stickers look different?

are they red/pink in any way?

no they are both white

Then the stickers were not exposed to water which leaves you at least an option of returning the device if it is still under warranty. This doesn't mean that some parts (critical) may have still been exposed to moisture.

ok,then that is ok, no apparent liquid damage.

I don't know what screen darkness could be, did you ever look at the brightness level as asked?

I did, I managed (with difficulty) to get it to 100 brightness.

what do you mean with difficulty? You just scroll the numbers up or down to the desired level. Are you having other issues with the device, that don't work well?

no the difficulty was because the screen is SOO dark I can barely see it.

Has the battery been fully charged yet?

no- it has been charging for 2 hours though. I am not sure how long it takes to fully charge- that yellowy green light is still blinking.

that sounds like it hasnt charged at all. if you can check to see if the charging icon is present

I agree with Sith, sounds like it is still under the 15% charge if the yellow light is blinking. Set it aside several hours and allow it to charge fully.

Give it 3-4 hours at least, if it was fully discharged.

And as Sith mentioned, make sure the charging icon is present on the homescreen.

It is very important th=at the phone be turned off when recharging in this condition. You must do this until the light stops blinking. Then restart. If you try to charge with the phone one and the battery is very low, most of the energy goes to running the phone and very little goes to the battery. 73
