Default The biggest 8800 problem in history ?

Please Login to Remove!

Huge problem with my 8800 - feel like an astronaut stuck in Apollo 13 that needs to get back to earth safely.

1. My trackerball broke and I have lost it

2. The usb syn port has become lose and doesn't take power, or synchrnoise with with Sony Vaio PC

3. I have about 3 hours of battery left

4. I have calendar appointments starting on Monday, and don't know what they are, because my synchronisation was about a month back.

So, any answers to the following will be massively appeciated:

1. Can I switch applications to my calendar, using keys ?

(when i tried the switch applications in my user guide, alt and another key, the only applications it has are the internet browser and mail, but not my calendar)

2. does anyone know how i can synchronise using Bluetooth to my PC

3. Any other creative solution -

Thanks so much.

Check out the Bluetooth Connections forum for more information.

And the Apollo astronauts did not beat the crap out of their equipment.

"L" for calendar, "T" for tasks, "M" for messaging, "F" for profiles. There are more. You have to diable dialing from the home screen for these key shortcuts to work. Go to the phone screen (green button), and disable it in Menu, (O)ptions.

Be more gentle with your BB.

I would buy it here: BlackBerry 8100/8300/8800 OEM trackball- Samsung, Sony, Alcatel, Dopod/O2, Nokia, SonyEricsson, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, Micr
It is half the price, and no annoying ads that take over your screen

I was looking at the Horizon Wireless page, and an add morphed over the whole page (one of the "floating ads").
Those dang things annoy the heck out of me.

Default loose USB

Cqall Verizon and tell them your unit is not taking a charge, They will send you a replacement. All you ave to do is send yours back. Do not mention broken anything.

Happened to me, got a new phone to boot.

Do your self a favor buy your self a good skin, make sure you use only BB acceptable charging, syncing and cables for your BB. Not all cables supply the same power and fit exactly the same although they may seem similar. Be gentle with the USB connection, it only goes in one way.

Good luck on everything else.

Baird, never seen anything like you're talking about, still don't.

The owner of horizonwirelessonline.com is a member here of BBF, sponsored the recent Christmas contest on BBF, and is local in Canada, not the People's Republic of China. The shipping will be quicker and less expensive with horizonwirelessonline.
Don't get me wrong, I am not dissing them, but if given a proper choice...

On your desktop, in the Start > Blackberry menu, there's the shortcut to start the blackberry connection. This thing normally starts by default when you connect your Blackberry. Right click the item in your system tray and edit. Poke around - there's a checkbox there to enable bluetooth connection. I'm not sure which versions are required for this - hopefully you have the most current onexxx8230;

Thank you so much for this. I can see my calendar now.

One other shoetcut request - i am trying to use Bluetooth to syncronise my device - I need to change the "Discoverable from No to Yes" in the Bluetooth options. Do you know how i can get to the second line "Discoverable" - i.e. i am trying to find an equivalent to a down arrow, and then a side arrow to change the status. Thanks.

you can remove the trackball completely and use a pencil or similar device to press down on the sensor. this *may* i repeat *may* work for you to navigate through the options.

We have nearly 70 8800's here. Huge numbers have had balls problems, and about more than 10% have had the USB port break.

Our ball problems are normally fixed by pressing hard on the ball while rolling it, but sometimes they have to get replaced. Noone has ever actually broken one. When you say you lost it, I assume you mean it actually cracked and fell out?

The USB ports are weak on this model. We had 7250's for a couple of years, and not a single one broke. I'm telling my users to to be really gentle with them, as Blackberry are starting to reject our returns.

After noticing for the last several months that my USB port seemed loose, mine finally decided not to take a charge last night, and I wound up having to do an emergency migration to my wife's old Curve (like the keyboard feel better anyway, so I'm coping)...unfortunately, I had not backed up the 8800 since 4/3, and since the port was broken, I couldn't run a current backup (I know, bad practice not to back up more often). So is there any repair to be done, or should I just deal with losing a few weeks of data and wipe this 8800 and try to swap it out with AT&T?

Issues I have with my 8830 are related to Verizon not RIM directly.
