I have tried setting my out of office from my bb and it doesn't work!
I noticed several months ago that I couldn't get my signature to work either.

I am wondering if they are somehow related. One thing I've noticed is that when I set my away message from outlook it is not sync'd over to my bb. In other words, I can't see any of my previous away messages on my bb. I had to type a new one.

I don't know how my bb is set up corporate wide but I do know all of my coworkers have been able to do away messages and out of office messages from their phones.

Our corporate helpdesk is helpless and they have not been able to help.

It is Cingular Serivce....

Any ideas?

You should contact your IT department and report this issue.
Have them resend the service books to your device.

No, it won't reset your BlackBerry at all.
It saddens me that you have such little faith in your IT department.

But... who am I to judge?

just upgraded to 4.1 and are having the same issue with OOO and sig. Resending service books didn't resolve the issue.
