Default Battery Life Dwindling Quickly

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All! I'm having a slight problem with my battery. First let me say I've had my 8830 for about 7 months and this is, by far, the best device I've ever owned. Now, last month I had an Alpine unit installed in my vehicle. My 8830 syncs up with the unit and it basically gives me hands free with all the bells and whistles (mutes the stereo, uses the car speakers, syncs with stereo head unit, etc.). The problem is this... ever since I had this unit installed, my battery doesn't last half as long as it used to. Even if I'm not in the car, I can almost watch the battery meter slowly drop. I've checked every setting I possibly can with no luck. Is it possible my 8830 is constantly searching for this Alpine unit when not in range? I've turned off the Discoverable setting. Has anybody else experienced this or something similar? Any help is greatly appreciated.

First, welcome to the Forum.

Yes, actually, a bluetooth connection does drain the battery when constantly connected.

But i would also look at your applications running in the background to make sure you are closing all of them properly.

Maximum Battery Life - BlackBerryFAQ.com

use Alt + Escape to see what apps are running on your BB.
