Default Question about reloading OS

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I have a T-Mobile 8700g BES but I want to install the Chinese language support which requires me to reload the OS to Hong Kong CSL version. At the end of the setup configuration, it says that if I have to activate my device wirelessly before sending and receiving message.
I don't have the password to activate it again.
Is every time when I reload the OS, I need to do wireless activation again?
Can I install Chinese without reloading the OS or avoid the activation?

Thanks.

Yes, after an OS upgrade you will have to reactivate on the BES (Enterprise Activation.)

Default any way to get around that?

For me, getting enterprise activation done again requires a call to our Customer Support center to get a trouble ticket opened. At that point they send it up to the BES admin who regenerates the PW.

Any way around this after an upgrade? I've run out of "excuses" as to why I need EA again and again...

For me to reload and activate via BES i dont need a special password. If you have the password used to lock the unit it should work. The only other password may be the one you use for Email.

There are two methods of activating on BES. The first is to have the BES Admin setup a password to use in the Enterprise Activation menu in Options. This is a different password than the password used to unlock your device or to get into your corporate email and is usually only good for a short time (24-48hrs.)

The other method requires on online connection to your email server such as being on your work computer on the domain, connected via VPN, etc. If you install Desktop Manager for BES support then it will automatically pull your email profile (Outlook profile, for example) and if you're connected to the network you will get an online connection. Desktop Manager should say "Connected" and "Online." After the upgrade, if you are connected that way the EA process will start automatically. This is how I usually reactivate on my BES after all the OS upgrades I do. I never have to contact my IT dept.

It seemes like I had to do option 1 on my 7130e -- no exceptions. I always wondered how good of friends you all were with your BES!!

I will upgrade tomorrow afternoon early enough that I can still contact my BES admin, just in case.

Is there a sticky on how to save your browser bookmarks? Everything else I could care less....

Thanks!
