Default Help! Internet Browsing Service Books for TMO needed (IPPP for ICS)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there:

All details are here:

IPPP for BIBS Service Book needed for TMO (read inside)

In a nutshell, I am willing to pay for someone that can provide me with a backup of the 7100's Internet Browsing Service Book for T-Mobile USA. I need the IPPP for ICS book and I can't get it from the BWC or tech support. Details are on the above referenced thread. I need this urgently. Posted here because of the higher traffic on this sub-forum

Thanks for reading

I had a similar problem with my 7780. I could get/send email, but could not get the web browser to work. I had the option to send the browsing service book, but it would not come to my handheld.
I called ATT/Cingular support, and eventually got transferred to RIM Support. They tried sending the service book, but it did not come to the handheld.
They had to reset my account, and my browser appeared.

Lightbulb No go with RIM/TMobile, still need the Service Book (pretty please!)

Thanks for the suggestion. But as I mentioned in the original thread, I already went through the T-Mobile / RIM route. T-Mobile won't give me support because they don't know much about the SK65. RIM won't take the call because its not a RIM branded device. They have tried resetting and sending out the books but because of a network filter on the IPPP for ICS service books, only these models get the service books.

So... the only way to make this work is to have a 71/72/77XX series user *with BWC service* back up their IPPP for ICS service book so I can restore it on my handheld. Only then, the browser on the SK65 will work.

So I still ask the folks in here: if anyone with BWC service only would be willing to back up the IPPP and Browser Config service books, Im willing to compensate you for your time. Pretty please, with sugar on top!

i think you can log into www.tmobile.com/bwc and then go to options or profile and there are some buttons there to allow you to have service books resent to your phone

If you have that feature provisioned on your TMo service then all you have to do is do a register now, Options -> Host Routing Table -> Trackwheel -> Register Now, that re-registers your handheld on the network and checks against the network and your device for settings, service books and PLMNs..

Default We already tried that...

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

As I mentioned in the linked thread on the first post, I already tried loging into the BWC and sending out the Internet Browsing Book. Nada. I can get the BWC Email book and that works fine. T-Mobile tech support also tried to do it, but it just sits there as "pending". There is a IPPP for ICS filter T-Mobile has set up so 71/77/72xx series are the only ones receiving the books. Hence the reason I can't receive them on my SK65 and why I was asking if someone with BWC service on T-Mobile would be willing to back them up and email them to me.

The only other way is to have TMo resend the books through the Blackberry WebClient Admin tool that is available to them. If that doesn't work then there is no other way to receive them..

Okay, to my knowledge, BlackBerry Connect is only used for Email redirection not browsing services. I could be wrong about that. If you want browsing services, then you will have to use whatever comes with the SK65. And since TMO doesn't offer the SK65 as a supported model, I would think you are pretty much SOL (unless a normal data plan would push this down).

jibi:

Thanks for the input. According to some reports and readings on other forums, it has worked. I was always stuck on the fact that this phone is not advertised as BlackBerry Connect but as BlackBerry Built-In - is there a difference?

The browser and functionlity is there, however withouth the books - nada. What leads me to believe that the browsing is made to work is the following: if it [BB Built-In] was meant for email only: why would have they included the browser? For me BB Built-In has the same functionality as a full feldged BB device, I think.

The problem is not whether the SK65 can do it - the problem lays that unless you had a previous BlackBerry and changed to the SK65 - in which case the books would be automatically pushed down to you - you can't get the books unless someone backs them up and sends them to you. All because of the darned IPPP filter set up... grrr.... proof of it is that even with their BlackBerry Web Admin tool they can't push the books down since it shows up on their side as "pending" but never makes it here...

And as you said because TMo doesnt sell it (= not supported), theyre not likely to help you.

But the backing up of BWC Internet service books and restoring works - just waiting patiently for a kind soul willing to try it. If I'm mistaken on any of the statements I made, please feel free to educate me...I welcome all input.

Regards

Default Success!

After waiting a bit with no luck for someone to offer to back up the books and send them to me, I finally broke down and got a 7100... inserted my SIM card, had all 7100 Service books pushed to me. I backed them up on the Desktop Manager switched to my SK65 and restored them..voila!

My SK65 works now like a charm. Full functionality.

How did you restore them to a SK? Did desktop manager recognize the SK?

If you install the Siemens supplied BB software and then install the regular Desktop Manager software, the software will recognize the SK65 as long as you have the BlackBerry service fired up on the phone.

I'm having a similar problem. If anyone has a backup of their tmobile service books I could really use them.

Here's my situation. I have a blackberry 6230, it works just fine as a phone and a PDA..but I have no service books and I've tried registering my bb in the Host Routing... but nothing. I've gone to the BIS site and nothing comes to my bb...

I was talking to the "friendly" people at tmobile who said that they can't send me the service books...

The problem is...I'm using tmobile 2 go (tmobile prepaid). Their admin tool can't send me a service book to my phone number...so I'm stuck.
I really only need the service book so I can access the tzones webpage to check my balance and to read the news. nothing critical, but I really want that service!!

From my understanding talking to tmobile's tech support, if I can get a service book from a kind soul..then I should be able to get tzones. At least that's what the tech support people indicated.

Sorry for such a long post...
