I've screwed the pooch this time. I was pulling against the tension of my curled-cord-car-charger while trying to hold my 8800 to my ear and I managed to put enough leverage in the tongue
inside the 8800's female usb charge receptacle that it broke all of its golden solder wires to the 8800's motherboard. I disassembled it completely (thanks to this guide
) and saw that the tongue is no longer connected electrically to the motherboard. What now?
1. Find someone who can solder a new usb connector to the motherboard? If so, where is such a shop? I can solder, but not at the fine tolerances required for this job. I'm skeptical any non-robotic
tech can either.
2. Buy a replacement motherboard? Are these even for sale?
3. Buy a second battery and one of those out-of-phone battery chargers and just swap batteries every day?
4. Give up and buy a new 8800? Any other options?
