Default Broken USB to Motherboard connectors -- Repairable?

Please Login to Remove!

I've screwed the pooch this time. I was pulling against the tension of my curled-cord-car-charger while trying to hold my 8800 to my ear and I managed to put enough leverage in the tongue inside the 8800's female usb charge receptacle that it broke all of its golden solder wires to the 8800's motherboard. I disassembled it completely (thanks to this guide) and saw that the tongue is no longer connected electrically to the motherboard.

What now?

1. Find someone who can solder a new usb connector to the motherboard? If so, where is such a shop? I can solder, but not at the fine tolerances required for this job. I'm skeptical any non-robotic tech can either.

2. Buy a replacement motherboard? Are these even for sale?

3. Buy a second battery and one of those out-of-phone battery chargers and just swap batteries every day?

4. Give up and buy a new 8800?

Any other options?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

It is repairable. BBrepairshop.com or promobility.com

Check with shapelessbb user he does repair work as well!

But might be better buying another some good deals in the buy sell trade section here on bbf

Also, JSanders has an 8800 for sale here....$250 I think but he may accept an offer, though.

Thanks. For benefit of anyone following the link, it's actually
HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, Canada’s Cellular Repair Center

(not being picky; just trying to help).
