| GMail / Apps email problem Please Login to Remove! Newbie here....
So I got a T-mobile curve last week to play with it while I was going to get a sprint 8830 this week. Things were great! Emails came faster than my desktop, and I had all 4 email addresses working right. 2 of them were GMails, and the other 2 were "work" GMail App email address. I was happy.
Now that I finally got the 8830 on my sprint plan, I'm having troubles now. Emails don't come in instantaneously... as a matter of fact, it takes longer than 15 minutes. We're talking... hours.
Ideas? I'm planning on calling the blackberry/treo support team @ sprint for help, but is there anythign else I can/should do to get it to work? It's the weekend and work is coming around tomorrow! | | Offline

Hope it does for you!
OFC I guess you've tried battery pull and resend servicebooks.. ?

| there is no guarantee that gmail is going to be instant. many on here have had the 15 minute delivery time. if deleting and readding the account doesnt work, along with resending the service books doesnt work, there is really not much blackberry support can do for you. | | Offline

| ahh I didn't know that it was that much of an issue sith, thanks
I've been running gmail the whole time and no issues..
Could it have anything to do with IMAP enabeling on gmail account settings? It shoudn't have, since BIS use POP to gmail servers, but.. who knows..
Atleast I have it at Disabled.

| I'm not necessarily looking for instantaneous "spot on" email. I'm having trouble receiving emails, and we're talking about just receiving... period.
1) I got an email last night @ midnight for a flight confirmation. That email hit my server @ Google Apps at midnight. According to my blackberry, it came in @ 3am... 3 hours late.
2) Same account, I have gotten some more emails this weekend. Roughly 4 more. None of them even showed up on my blackberry this morning. None.
3) Don't even talk about the rest of my gmail accounts. I get 20% of the emails...
So... are my expectations too high? | | Offline

| Yup... thanks for the tips guys.
After hours upon hours with (and trying to get to) Sprint BIS support, they "finally" fixed it. I have yet to test everything, but at least my work email (main one) is fixed.
The key seemed to be that when the service was setup, there was a hiccup somewhere. Deleting the BIS account and recreating it multiple times didn't help. Email was still spotty. Finally, the last tech thought to try to re-provision the data services on the phone and that worked.
Don't know how often that gets corrupted, but if there's issues that resetting the BIS account doesn't solve, plan B is to reprovision, then recreate your BIS account, and then finally a 30 second battery pull. In that order...
The experience now "feels" like the TMobile one. For a second there, I was worried I might actually have to go back to TMobile. Work is infinitely more important than convenience and price... | | Offline

So what exactly did they do on your phone? I use all email through the Gmail APP and it has been very slow recently. | | Offline

| I believe it's:
Options -> Mobile Network -> Menu Key -> Start Provisioning
It was done, then she completely recreated my BIS account from scratch again, and then things worked better. Apparently, my 1GB personal GMail account took a while to get "synched" (I can't remember the term) but now it seems... ok? | | Offline

| no problem. I've been a treo user since the 300 and never got a chance to chip into the Treo community.
I'll try my best here... =D | | Offline

any idea? | I believe that is pretty normal; it is not a true IMAP implementation in that sense. | | Offline

| when adding the account you start recieving the emails from the time you add it (+20min maybe). You won't recieve the previos mails like you do on POP3.
For myself that is great, since i've got 500mb of mails laying at my gmail account.. he he.

| I'm using GMAIL for APPS and initially it was running a 15 minute to couple hour delay.
I think one reason it was delayed was my email records had not been transferred fully to point to Gmail. When I deleted the BIS email and re-entered it and then re-sent service books a day or two later that seemed to clear things up.
I have not had many delay issues on the Gmail to Blackberry email delivery. It's been instant ever since I re-sent the service books. If there are delays they are typically not long. Even when I was on BES I'd experience the same types of delays. | | Offline

| Would you recommend I resend the service books? I'm down again, and it's getting frustrating.
Again, the symptoms are emails that come into my outlook don't show up on my BB.
The part I don't understand is that I had it set up under TMobile also... and that worked like a champ. No problems whatsoever with 4 accounts (2 gmail/ 2 apps). Came up in less than 4 hours and was rock solid.
Is there a problem with the Sprint implementation of BIS? What else can I do to get this going? | | Offline
