Default Efficient Battery Management on 8830

Please Login to Remove!

How do most of you manage your battery on your 8830? After a days worth of use, my battery meter is down to about 30%, I turn off my device before going to bed and typically charge it for about 2.5 hours in the morning while it's still off. This typically gives me a full charge so that I'm not stranded when out and about, using GPS, Web, email etc.

I've heard of some that leave it on 24/7 with the auto on/off function. Well I'm curious to see how you all have found it most efficient charge your device, on or off? Charge an hour here and there, or do you allow the battery to always drain and then full charge overnight?

Thanks in advance

how do you exit out of your gps app. do you just hit the red button, or do you use menu > close? if you just hit the red button it is sent to the background and runs continuously. same thing with any media application you run. nothing will kill a battery faster than leaving gps and/or media running. you should get, with moderate to heavy use, several days of standby. with no use you can get nearly 3 weeks on that device.

I leave it on 24/7 and sit it on the desktop cradle at night. Gives me full charge and lasts all day.

I do hit close or exit on every media application & web. I don't get several days of standby though. If lucky I get 2 days, and by the end of the second day it will shut the radio off by itself and I can just use it for organizer, or read past emails, etc.

just periodically throughout the day check your running applications to make sure nothing is running. other than that, using a case puts the device into standby so its not using unnecessary battery life while doing nothing.

Joe, there's a good FAQ here, also.

I used it.. but then decided to turn it off, now my phone still believes its on and won't turn it off at all, even if the settings is set to off.. very strange.. i've set it to 1min at night.. so won't be that much of a problem.. hehe

I only turn my device off every few weeks when I pull the battery. I plug it in the charger when I go to bed and remove it when I leave in the morning. I have forgot to charge my device and it simply goes another day.

Why don't you just charge it while sleeping?
