Question 'Italic' envelope?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum & the 7100t so please be gentle

I've done a search & read the manual but can't find the answer to this query - an email has appeared on my 7100t that has a blue open envelope, only it is slightly slanted as if it were an italic letter. Can someone please tell me what this indicates?

The email incidentally, did not appear in my web instant email account nor is it still in my POP3 mailbox. It is also from an email account that is NOT set up to forward to my 7100t - so that's a bit confusing.

I'm just using Desktop Manager (to sync with Oulook 2003) and the web based instant email forwarding. Everything else is working really well and I'm very impressed (I come from a Pocket PC background).

Thanks,
Cowie

I believe that is a "push" application responding. I have seen that when I have gone to a website on my 7100t and clicked on a link for something that was not readily available. Later I noticed a similar icon in my e-mail, when I opened it, it went to the webiste.

Have you opened your e-mail with the icon in question? What appeared?

Thanks for responding.

Yes, I opened the email but it's just text (an order confirmation) with an embedded link. The thing that really threw me is that it's not an email account that I set up to forward (in fact I specifically don't want to have this account forward email as it's about 50% spam). This is the only email that I've received from this account on my 7100t though!?

Is there any way of viewing the email headers on the 7100t so that I might be able to dig a little deeper?

SMS messages also come in as an italic envelope on my 7100t. It may be an SMS instead of a push.

No, it's definately an email. I placed an order for some screen protectors using my laptop and an email address that I use for such things. I then received the order confirmation that was picked up by Outlook followed a couple of hours later by payment confirmation, again collected by Outlook (my 7100t is not set up to receive mail on that account). Then a couple of hours after that I received shipping confirmation on my 7100t with the weird blue envelope but nothing appeared in my POP3 mailbox (or in my T-Mobile instant email account - which it should if it was pushed to my 7100t).

Did it show who sent it? Perhaps a number? As mentioned, SMS messages come in as an italicized envelope. They are yellow on the O2 and List themes (and blue once opened). They are yellow on the T-Mobile theme (and grey once opened).

Yes, it shows the company name, no number. I'm using the default T-Mobile theme and the envelope is yellow then blue once opened (and italicised).

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it unless it happens on a reguar basis.

I just can't believe how long the battery lasts on this thing! Amazing!

Thanks anyway.
