Hi! I've been poking my head in here for the last year-and-a-half, and now I finally have a seemingly undocumented issue. (That's your cue to throw the 12 links to old threads at me...

I occasionally use my 7130e/sprint as modem, with little to no problem. However, yesterday, when the phone rang, I unplugged my bb from the computer while the modem was engaged...

Now my service bars only go from 0-3ish, and always on 1x... Also I am unable to make and receive calls AND texts... on occasion an email will somehow slip through to me, and even the random phone call will make it through, but the call drops after several seconds... i think during these brief windows the service jumps back to EVO... but quickly retreats...

I'm pretty sure I got the phone stuck in some sort of uplink mode.

SO, I soft reset... hard reset... re-installed the OS... wiped it clean (from the security settings menu...) and after each of these, the stupid little arrow is still flashing at a steady pace! The only thing that arrow is indicating is the direction in which I'm about to throw the phone...

PLEASE help me free my baby from this crazy connection limbo!

Sounds like your device is trying and failing to authenticate to the BlackBerry network. Call your carrier and have them remove and re-add the BlackBerry provisioning on your account. It may also be worth asking them to walk you through re-programing your device (unless your carrier supports OTA programing).

Once that's done pull the battery on your device.

This sounds like the potential solution... I was just on the phone with sprint/blackberry tech support, and she mentioned that we will try something like: ##789... (can't remember the exact numbers) BUT, the system is down for a few hours for updating, so we couldn't do it yet.

She said that this will be a FULL wipe, where I have to completely register every detail again... I am backed up and ready to roll!

Just waiting on email confirmation from their end, and I'll post an updated if this works...

Just a note too... it sounds like prematurely disconnecting the usb cord while using PAM may not be so bad on some models... but for 7130e it definitely corrupts something somewhere deep inside.

...in fact, because something's wrong with the Sprint computers, the request that the tech put in to delete/redo the provisioning on my handset was still pending/hanging...hadn't even started in the 30 minutes we sat on the phone. (i'm not sure he really has any idea how a blackberry works...) in fact, he said we should allow up to 4 hours for that to go through, even though his experience is that it happens in under 10 minutes.

after waiting for that to not happen, we did a complete wipe: ##678 (i think)

after restoring via computer i'm still showing 1x with a few bars, and the little arrow is still grasping at the air but not connecting to anything.

Tech thinks it's hardware issue and i need repair...

...any other opinions? I really don't think it's hardware related... something needs to happen to get the phone to actually connect to what it's grabbing for... OR make it stop trying... please help!
