Default get link from e-mail

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I am using a blackberry 8830 simulator and facing the following problem. I am sending a long link in e-mail. when i read the mail, blackberry gives me the option of "get link" which essentially takes me to the link. however blackberry is failing to fetch the entire link and is only taking a portion of it. It is happening on the original BB device also. Can anyone please help me to understand why the "Get link" option is not taking the entire link and what possible solutions do i have?

I appreciate your help.

-thnx

what format is the url address? does it have spaces within the address? if so, this would cause the hyperlink to end at the space. . .

There are no spaces. Consider the following url:-
blackberry simulator - Google Search
it contains no spaces and spreads to 5 lines on the blackberry.. the "get link" option always read only the first 3 lines. so get link will take me to:
blackberry simulator - Google Search

I just tried the url and it did link properly... maybe the sample url you provided above is not a good example to demonstarte your situation...

ok.. please try this url. i will explain the scenario

when u receive the following url in e-mail and u open it from e-mail by using the get link option of your blackberry
http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8800-series-discussion/120550-get-link-e-mail.html#post858049

it will take you to
http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8800-series-discussion/120550-get-li

which will redirect to:-
http://www.blackberryforums.com

thus instead of viewing the thread on which we are discussing u will reach the home page.

Please let me know if it also works fine on yr blackberry.
thanks

...one way URL gets cut to the next line is when the message containing the long URL is forwarded, especially if there's more than 78-80 characters. Some email clients also truncate long URLs after a certain number of characters. . .
