- upgrade to OS 4.0 and it has a better looking calculator
- http://mobile.blackberry.com has free games (again, 4.0 is suggested)

A good calc is one of the biggest missing elements on the BB (a snooze for alerts is another). The whole BB community is actually somewhat mercenary in this regard; free high quality calcs are available on Palm and PocketPC, but the only calc I could find (besides MIDP ones which were difficult to use on the BB) is the BizMathica, http://www.shrunkenhead.biz/bizmathica.html, for the (IMHO) expensive price of $30.

In fact, I am constantly disappointed how even the cheesiest and weakest game is sold for $8.99 on Handango. There are a ton of great games for Palm and PocketPC which are offered for free and/or open source, while there is little to none of that for the BB. Which is a bit odd, b/c BB gives an entire IDE for free, and mounds of docs, also for free.

I guess its time to learn to program!

Oh, there is another option. A few spreadsheets out there, but the "affordable" one is http://www.simprit.com/miniexcel/index.html. Note the price diff between the Java ($10) vs. BB ($25), which seems somewhat unfair. Still, depending on your needs, you may enjoy the spreadsheet more than the calc.

If BB had a touch screen, these would all be easier to use, I think.
