|  Caracteres Problems

I have Installed the v4.2.1.114 (english) in my blackberry 8700.
The problem is that when I do some SMS I want to write my words (Portuguese) with the accents ans other caracteres.
Why I dont have the "ç" caracter and only have the capital letter "Ç" ?
Why I dont have the "ã" caracter and only have the "ä" ?
Why I dont have the "xxx7869;" the "õ" and others caracteres ?
Why I have all this caracteres when I write emails but not in the SMS ??
What I have to do to have those caracteres in the SMS ?
