Default Media

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

Just got a new 8830. Reading the manual it claims I can add stuff (media etc) to the phone if I use the Desktop Manager. The directions say to load the program and double click on the Media-? There is no icon for this. How can I add music/videos/pictures etc..?

Thanks!

There is a desktop manager download that does not include the media manager, and one that does. Perhaps you have the version without?

If you're using a pre-installed DM that you have used for your 7100i, then that will not work. You will need to un-install previously installed version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and install the version from the CD that came with your 8830. The latest version will have the Roxio Media Manager that you will need to move around your pictures, music and videos....

I installed the software that came with the new phone and removed the 7100i software. The disc has 4.2x version. I downloaded the newer version 4.3x and still no luck. There is no "media manager" icon for me to click. As far as I can tell I grabbed the right one.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Typically, I would un-install any previous versions of DM first, then install desired new version. ... Use BlackBerry Desktop Software v4.2 SP2 (about 231MB file size, English version) .. The disc that came with your device may have been Desktop Software v4.2 SP2 without Media Manager. . .

Thanks,

The 4.2 (sp2) worked. I had 4.3 but I guess I did not get Media Manager with it. I must have d/l the wrong version.

Good deal.

And odds are you will be better off with 4.2 SP 2 anyway.
