Default 7130c Locked Email Provider

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys!
I'm the new kid on the block with a big problem, hoping that one of you experts on BB's can help me.
I recently acquired a 7130c through eBay. The unit is practically new in appearance and function but, when I tried to set up the eMail account, the unit showed that an account already existed.
After a lot of investigating, it turns out that the unit has a locked account with EarthLink (I have ATT). There is no way to communicate with the previous owner to help by providing the required info.
EarthLink can or will not help if User and PW are not provided (which is the main issue of the problem), and refers to RIM. RIM politely refers to ATT and ATT refers to RIM.
It seems that I have a great BB 7130c but cannot use the email feature.
Is there a way to go around this and eliminate the problem by adjusting a file/module within the unit?
Any advise appreciated.

Your only option is to get the original Provider to release the PIN and IMEI. Try calling them back and explaning that you have purchased the device and wish for them to release the PIN, be polite but be firm. If they will not release it the only recourse that you have is via Ebay to the seller.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that it works out for you. For future reference consider the things listed in the link before purchasing a used device again:
