I have been using a BB 7290 for some time now and am very pleased with it, in fact it is "the best suited to me" phone I have ever owned.

On my recommendation a very good friend has bought a BB 7290 and his phone asks for a password before it can be used. He wants to be able to lock his phone but not have to put in a password every time he uses it.

I have been to Options, Security options, General settings, and the password says "enabled" . When I press the thumbwheel the choices are - 1 Change password, 2 Wipe handheld 3 Verify Security software, 4 Save, and 5 Close.
I don't get the choice of disabling the password and have tried wiping the handheld but still have to put in the password after it has wiped itself..

Does anyone know of anyway of disabling the password function please???

If you friends phone is issues through work he should not try to disable the password function as it is a company policy. If your friend owns the phone and purchased it used it likely has an IT Policy on it that requires the password. You can follow the instructions below to remove the IT Policy but I will caution that if it is a work issued device and the does this it might be grounds for termination.
