Default Using a previously owned 7280

I am looking a buying a Blackberry 7280 from a person that in his past has been know as questionable. He says the Blackberry is his to sell and I have seen him with it prior to today. Anyway.... The unit does not have a SIM in it, but will work if I put my AT&T SIM in. My question is, if I buy this unit and it was gotten by questionable means can it be traced to me if I am using it with my own SIM card?? I like a good deal, but not if it will get me in trouble. Thanks!

Hey Darkvving,

I bought a 7280 (ATT branded) on Ebay yesterday real cheap (dont have it yet) so I know what you mean. I bought mine from an ebay seller with about 300 A+ feedbacks, so I am fairly confident it won't be blacklisted, but who knows(???).

If you have access to the Blackberry, get that IMEI number form it and you can check it to see if it's been reported lost or stolen (guess you should call Cingular Blue and ask them) .. don't know much about BBs (yet) but know that the carriers have a database of "hot" IMEIs and they will check it for you before you buy it. Hear there is a site on the internet you can check too if you have that IMEI number. If this guy won't let you check it out, then maybe you should call the cops, bet it's stolen!! Hope that helps.

Alan
