Default Browser Emulation Modes

Please Login to Remove!

I was looking through the settings in my browser to try to enable my phone to view an embeded video, and noticed a setting for "Emulation Mode" with a number of different types of browsers as options (i.e. Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.). I tried switching these to see what would happen, but did not see any noticable change. What is this option designed for? Are they just preset browser settings to make it less complicated to adjust your browser, or is it some sort of style issue that I just didn't see?
