Default Custom ringtones?

Hello-

Can you assign different contacts different ringtones? I searched the forum, and couldn't find anything regarding this.

Thanks.

It really annoys/baffles me when complex devices don't support simple things. This concept has been around for years and years, and is something that a business user or a home user would find very useful. I don't understand why they'd fail to include it.

It is odd why such a powerful device lacks such a simple feature, even my Nokia 8260 from days past could handle customize rings. If anyone is looking for a wack of ring tones I can suggest the following: http://www.8ung.at/drmsushi single tone MIDI

I have posted several messages about this.. I have been calling it distinctive ringtone, but no one has replied to any of my messages. I also asked in the 3rd party apps if anyone would work on it, with still no reply. So I don't know.. Maybe if more people show interest, especially with the new prosumer 7100t out.

Default Message Alerts Application

This sounds like what you are asking for.....

See this post: http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/show...ts+Application

An application I used on my 7230 that allows you to assign rules for certain conditions to ring distinctively....very effective....

Notes: http://www.webmessenger.com/docs/ReadMe-AlertRules.txt

Link to Message Alerts App: http://webmessenger.xohost.com/MsgAlerts-0923.zip

I have NOT tested it on the 7100 yet....

Finch that site has been around and is good for old school BB but the single channel midi files are aweful on the 7100. I will be posting links to some of my fav multi-channel midi's and I just saw another post about a site...

Since I just switched over from a SE T610, I like myt610.lasyk.net. Tons of easy to download midi ringtones. Now I just need distinctive rings so I know when not to pick up the phone.

they are working on a fix for Message Alerts for 7100t compatibility and it will likely be out in a week or two (going by their general 5 week release schedule).
