Hi,

Is it possible not to have any icon appearing on the BB even if new emails are received?

I just do not want to have anything showing me that an email is there, waiting for me to open it.

Thanks.

Pascal

Yes, Messages > General Options > Display New Messages Indicator = NO.

. . . But it will still show Unread Messages . . .

Follow-up with:

MESSAGES -> OPTIONS -> GENERAL OPTIONS -> DISPLAY MESSAGE COUNT: NONE

In my options it says show the number of messages and I indicated no so I only have an enveloppe but it appears everytime I have a new message.

I just want to have ... nothing.

crsambo, thanks. Forgot about that one too.

Do both, forpascal. You might still end up with the envelope on the top bar, though.

No problem... but it looks like it's one or the other . . . email indicator still will show . . . I guess one has to learn restraint and ignore the icon if you do not want to read the new messages

crisambo and JSanders - I actually have the opposite issue. I WANT the new email envelope with red asterisk to show up whenever I get a new email, but NOT the number of unread messages I have in my inbox. I have the BB 8820. When I go into my options, under DISPLAY MESSAGE COUNT you can choose NONE or UNREAD. If you choose UNREAD, then you are prompted with DISPLAY NEW MESSAGE INDICATOR. That seems backward to me. Is this different in the BB 8800 which is the one I used to have and which used to display icons the way I like?
