When I connect either my or my wife's BB to my home computer, BB manager won't recognize it. It just says "disconnected". I've tried uninstalling the desktop with no luck. When I do that, the first time I plug in a BB, the computer recognizes it and installs "RIM device" and says it's ready to use. The devices will also charge when they're hooked up, so I don't think it's the cord or the USB port.

In connections settings, I have it on USB port, but it won't detect anything. Any ideas?

What version of Desktop Manager are you running? Also have you fully un-installed the program, including Registry Keys and Folders?

4.0.0.30. I uninstalled just using the windows control panel, I'm not sure what reg keys to get rid of.

When I purchased my Wifes BB, this happened to me also. I performed a clean uninstall following the steps here: http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgec...60545&vernum=0

I then re-installed the Desktop Manager and it worked. These steps will tell you what keys to get rid of.

Remove the USB from the device. Uninstall the BB Destop Software, restart PC. Reinstall the BB desktop manager, launch it the plug in the USB to the device. On WIN xp it should say installing new hardware.. then it should work.

By remove USB from device do you mean to uninstall it from the device manager on my desktop?

have you uninstalled the device drivers in the Device Manager and re-installed them after restarting your PC?

In the device manager, I've got 3 different types of USB entries listed. There's 5 of "USB Root Hub", 4 of "VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller" and 1 "VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller." Which should I remove? All of them? If I remove them, will they all reinstall themselves?

By any chance did you try clicking on the application loader? Try that and see if it detects it?

I had a similar problem at one time. I tried rebooting the PC and the BB - nothing. The only thing that finally worked was physically removing the USB cable from the BB and then rebooting the BB and PC on their own. When I reattached the USB cable to the BB, all was well.

Tried it. The BB USB installs, but it will only charge it, not sync.

I've been having the same problem here. On a PC running XP SP2. No problems loading it at work, at home no joy. Just charging. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. restarted and even switched USB cables. Gonna try a couple of other extreme fixes (wipe windows and try again) and see if that works. Is it possible that the ActiveSync I have installed for my IPAQ is interferring?
