Default at&t 8820 operating system update notification?

Please Login to Remove!

hi, i have repeatedly checked https://att.com/bbdownloads for the hoped for new operating system but what shows there available for my 8820 is no newer than what i have already (v4.2.2.169). i downloaded the software to my laptop's desktop, just to see if there would be place to sign up for notifications when a new operating system is available, but the only choices i saw sounded more like agreeing to receive advertising emails.

i am really interested in getting the new operating system when it is officially available, but i hate spending time "checking" the site to see when something new may (or may not) be posted under https://att.com/bbdownloads for my at&t 8820. does anyone know how and where it might be possible to subscribe for (and actually receive) such notifications?

thx

it will be posted here long before it is posted there (most likely). check the forums here, just bookmark the 88xx forums here and check the top every day or so.

Red face

That is the only operating system available. I just received my replacement 8820 yesterday and as soon as I turned it on I received an error message. I did a wipe on it and tried to see if that would help and it immediately showed that error message as soon as I connected it to my computer. I finally got a hold of someone from AT&T and they got me in touch with a RIM technician. He had me to completely delete everything from my 8820 and I installed that same operating system which is the latest one. It is working great, but as stated you and I will just have to wait and keep watching the forum here.

i think so but my firm's techs are cautious and don't want me changing before something comes out authorized (or at least apparently authorized) by at&t

Understandable, if they have asked you not to. Other carriers OS are released by RIM, and work well, however.

All of the handheld OS code is written by RIM, and then tested and released by the carriers on their own schedule..
